Pryors Hayes Senior Section

We believe that we have one of the most active and welcoming Seniors’ Sections in the County. We have over eighty paid up members but more are always most welcome.

The Section is open to all members* who have reached the age of 55 and our activities include:

·      A well-supported competition every Tuesday morning, from 8.00 to 10.30, with typically a medal, two stableford’s and a “fun comp” each month.

·       Summer and winter match-play knockout competitions.

·       Home and away friendly matches against six local clubs.

·       Two Seniors’ Opens, usually played in May and August.

·      Two away-days at selected local courses, in Spring and Autumn, with an 18- hole competition after coffee, followed by dinner.

In addition to the regular competitions, we compete for five trophies: the Seniors Masters (medal); the Stableford Champion (cumulative scores throughout the summer); the Tom Pollitt (pairs better ball); and summer and winter Match Plays.

To meet the needs and abilities of an age range spanning over 30 years, most Tuesday competitions are played off yellow tees, with three divisions based on handicap. Exceptions are the Masters and Tom Pollitt trophies (white tees). Partners for all competitions are drawn, allowing you to meet a wide range of members. (You choose an early, middle or late tee time.)

Members pay an entry subscription, currently £20, for each “half” of the year: in April for the summer programme and November for the winter. This covers entry to all Tuesday competitions and the match-plays. These fees, together with income from the Opens, pay for all prizes and a very popular Christmas lunch.

For those who play for the team, there is a small match fee, currently not more than

£15 which covers a two’s sweep, raffle and lunch. Entry to the Opens and Away Days is paid separately.

So, if you’re looking for a golf club with a vibrant and friendly Seniors’ Section, or if you are an existing Pryors Hayes member ready to admit being 55, please come and join us. You can be assured of a warm welcome, good company and golf of all standards. If you would like more information about any of the Section’s activities, check the Seniors notice board or ask the office for the contact details of the appropriate organiser.

No handicap? No problem. You can play in three of our medals or stablefords to obtain one, then join in all competitions.

*Note - Members on the Flexible Membership scheme are not eligible to play in competitions.
