Seniors section - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Seniors Members Update 2025 To members & friends of the Seniors section, from Glyn Jones on behalf of the Committee: Firstly, congratulations to Neil Atkinson, the new name on the Winter Matchplay Trophy after a closely fought final with John Treasure, Neil winning 2&1.

The winter programme is almost complete, prize vouchers will be credited to the gold cards at the end of the month and the first competition of the Summer is just two weeks away.

The Summer fixture list is attached. The programme is similar to last year, with one monthly medal including the Masters Trophy and one monthly stableford counting towards the Stableford Champion Trophy. There is a further stableford and a pairs or 3-ball team competition each month on the dates of our inter-club matches, plus the usual two Opens, in May and August.

The Tom Pollitt Trophy (pairs better ball) returns to its traditional place in July. Individual events (medals and stablefords) will continue to be played in two or three handicap divisions (to be decided) and will be WHS qualifying events if conditions permit.

(Stablefords on match days may be in fewer divisions.) BRS will have the usual opening and closing dates/times for entries. All competitions will continue to be drawn, using three times zones over 20 tee times from 7.56.

Continuing with the change made last year, all events will be off yellow tees, including the trophy competitions.

Details of the Matchplay Trophy will be issued shortly.

Our first match, at Eastham Lodge, is just a month away. If you wish to play in the matches please add your name to the matrix on the Seniors notice board, indicating your availability for the initial matches. Teams comprise 16 players in 8 pairs, playing better-ball matchplay.

The Spring away day is slightly later, on May 1st and will be at The Wirral Golf Club Details will soon be sent out by the organiser, Peter Hunter.

The membership fee remains at £25 for the summer. This covers the 24 Tuesday competitions and the matchplay. (Participants in the inter-club matches and away days pay per event.) Please do not pay until until a further email is sent with payment details.

So, if you are continuing your membership, returning after a break of joining for the first time, welcome and on behalf of the committee I am sure that whatever the weather we can look forward to a good and sociable summer of golf.

If you were a member in 2024, either summer or winter, but are not joining this summer, please let me know as soon as possible by replying to this email. To all recipients, please let me know by reply if you wish to be removed from the mailing list.

Many thanks,
Glyn Jones
